Warmer weather and renewed hope
As March arrives, the weather improves and flowers are welcoming the longer, brighter days. I always think this is a month of renewed hope and new beginnings. More time for open windows and less time blasting central heating through homes and offices.
Hopefully, any New Year resolutions are still being followed and are paying dividends. It’s time to re-evaluate the effectiveness of existing routines - including exercise and skincare.
If you reached February and abandoned your fitness plans and diet (as so many people did), this could be time to review your goals and find something that works better for you and your lifestyle. If you don’t like going to the gym or participating in classes, this is a great time to get out in the garden and go for long walks or bike rides instead.
Leaving behind winter skin
When looking in the mirror, does your skin appear dull after the drying conditions it endured over the winter? Do you have a build-up of dead skin cells? Boost your weekly routine with a good exfoliator!
We always recommend that you complement a good home care routine with professional treatments. A monthly facial can help take your skin to the next level.
If you choose the Essential Prescriptive Facial, your therapist will tailor the treatment to your own needs and that of your skin. As skin changes over time, you may want to address congestion and dehydration issues right now, whereas, in the summer, your concern might be on rejuvenating skin that has been over-exposed to the sun.
This is also a great time to look at preparing your body for the warmer weather to come. The Saltmousse-Glow Full Body Exfoliation Treatment is a holistic treatment for the recovery of health and energetic skin through the powerful release of healthy negative ions. Saltmousse gives you a choice of two natural extract aromas - Papaya-Pineapple or Mango-Passion Fruit. The extract is combined with sea salt and enriched with pro-vitamin A and carrot seed oil to exfoliate and smooth.
Exfoliants can remove a build-up of keratin, loosen and remove impacted impurities, increase the turnover of cells and enhance circulation. Using them can lead to better absorbency of serums and creams, a softer smoother skin, brighter complexion and an enhanced balance of hydration, moisture and sebum.
When considering facial scrubs and exfoliating products, check the ingredients and choose wisely. Avoid anything that has the potential to scratch and damage your skin. Instead, select products with spherical elements. For a very delicate, sensitive skin, it could be best to avoid exfoliation completely; whereby oily skin may need more frequent exfoliation, due to the build up of dead skin cells. For a normal/combination skin, exfoliating once or twice a week is generally recommended.
Natural ingredients and visible results
If you prefer a light feeling product, Pevonia’s Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser could be the perfect choice. It’s a creamy cleanser, containing jojoba, horse chestnut and chamomile, with a light foaming texture that provides a deep, daily, cleanse. The spherical jojoba beads are made from wax derived from the jojoba plant. They are natural, will not irritate the skin and are biodegradable. For a weekly exfoliation, just add less water to the cleanser after applying it to the face and neck.
The Pevonia Enzymo-Sphérides Peeling Cream is an excellent product and suitable for all skin types. It contains pineapple and papaya enzymes, encapsulated in sphérides that are activated by warm water. The enzymes digest impurities, sebum, blackheads and dead skin cells, leaving the skin looking bright, soft and smooth. This is a real hero product recommended by therapists for home use, with great results seen by users with a previously congested skin.
During March, the Age-Defying Collagen Facial, from the Essential Prescriptive treatments, is on special offer at SK Clinic + Spa, Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds.
